BESS Determination and Calculation of Venting Area

Determining and calculating the venting area for battery energy storage systems (BESS) is a critical step in ensuring the safety of energy storage equipment. Based on information such as gas production rates from cell data provided by the customer and referencing the NFPA 855 standard, it is assessed whether venting calculations are required for the energy storage system. Subsequently, following the NFPA 68 standard, the necessary venting area and the layout of pressure relief devices for the energy storage cabinet are accurately determined. This process effectively mitigates the risk of explosion within the battery storage cabinet, thereby ensuring the safety and regulatory compliance of the energy storage system.
